Service Projects

Recent Local Service Projects 
  • Tuesday's Table – Prepare and Serve free meals to the local community in needy in support of Calvary Episcopal Church
  • Sponsored the Annual Middle School Rotary Youth Leadership Training
  • Awarded 3 Skyline High School Scholarships
  • Sponsored and wrote letters for "Letters from Santa"
  • Teamed with a local fuel company to provide Holiday Fuel for Families
  • "Rang the Bell" for the Salvation Army at Rural King
  • Sponsored a Free Document Shredding Day for local businesses and individuals
  • Performed quarterly Roadside Cleanup of the Greenway
  • Sponsored 3 local Interact Clubs: Randolph Macon Academy Middle School, Skyline High School, Skyline Middle School
  • Provided major donations to St. Luke Free Medical Clinic and Samuels Public Library
  • Provided volunteer support for the Warren County Summer Backpack Program feeding needy students throughout the summer.
  • Sponsored and provided manpower for the United Way Day of Caring
  • Provided major funding in support of a local project to reduce drug dependency in the Northern Shenandoah Valley
  • Donated to Ray of Hope Housing Project for area homelessness
  • Financial support for the House of Hope and sponsor of their annual fundraiser
Recent International Service Projects 
  • Liberian Orphanage Education Project: provides funding and school supplies to teachers
  • Provided volunteers and funding for a Rise Against Hunger project providing free meals for the world's hungry.
  • Provided funding for the International Shelter Box program which provides emergency shelter and living supplies for international disasters 
  • Provided financial support for Project Uerê, a slum school in Rio de Janeiro
  • Provided funding for Water and Sanitation Projects in in South Sudan and Ashante, Ghana 
  • Through The Rotary Foundation, donated over $2.000.00 to the eradication of Polio
  • Malawi Project—purchase gloves for doctors, nurses and first responders
Recent National Projects
  • Provided financial support for victims of Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael and victims of the Paradise, CA wildfires.
  • Purchased boxes to be filled with personal supplies for the children of Appalachia
Major Service Projects

E Wilson Morrison Elementary School
  • Provided a $3000 grant to the community playground school to build a volleyball court and provide playground equipment. The grant was supplemented with an additional $3,000 community matching grant from Rotary District 7570. This was a two-year project to rebuild the school's playground.
The Phoenix Project
  • Proved over $8,000 and manpower to renovate the counseling areas and provide a children's room for the Warren County Domestic Violence Agency
Blue Ridge Opportunities
  • Provided manpower and funding to convert a metal Quonset hut into a greenhouse to be used by the organization to train their clients and provide a potential source of revenue. Blue Ridge Opportunities is a non-profit, private organization serving individuals with disabilities in Warren County.
  • Purchased 2 commercial shredding machines to support one of the core income sources of Blue Ridge Opportunities
Linden Park
  • A major 4 year project teaming with Warren County to fund and create a park in Linden, VA.
Senior Center
  • Purchased a van used by the senior center to transport local elderly to doctor's appointments in the local community and to the VA Hospital in West Virginia.
Project Uerê School in Rio de Janeiro
  • In December 2010, our proposal for a matching grant for our International Project Uerê Training Center was approved by Rotary International. This grant provided a total of $38,000 to furnish a center to support the training of hundreds of teacher through-out Brazil in the methodology of teaching slum children. Each year our club provides funding for food and supplies to the Project Uerê school supporting slum children's critical needs for food and education.
The Rotary Foundation Polio Plus:
  • Each year we donate funding to the PolioPlus eradication effort to immunize thousands of children in the Polio endemic countries.
International Shelter Box
  • Each year we provide funding for the International Shelter Box program providing emergency shelter and supplies for families in disaster zones.
Warren County Humane Society
  • Provided $8,558 to help fund the shelter’s “Olives Fund”; a fund to assist with the cost of emergency surgery.
